A real Florist?
When I searched the net for a florist I came across the page down
below. It was a very high ranking "florist" site. There was a
banner linking to one of the online florists. So I emailed and
called TP Baker and finally when he contacted me he told me that
this was a long process and the other online florist went through
the university and he basically suggested the response was no (not
to bother trying to get our banner up there). I can understand his
frustration. He wrote the program and somehow it got a high ranking
on a not so relevant search term and now online florists wants to
advertise...but I think it's unfair to say yes to one and not to the
other, don't you think?
Florist is an open
source implementation of IEEE Standard 1003.5b 1996, the POSIX Ada
binding, including real time extensions and a test suite. This
software provides access to the UNIX operating system services for
application programs written in the Ada programming language. It is
designed to be self configuring for a POSIX compliant system. A
suite of test
programs is included.
Florist was
produced by students and faculty of the Florida State University
Department of Computer Science, under contract to the US Department
of Defense, Defense Information Systems Agency, as a product of the
POSIX Ada Real Time (PART)
Project. When the contract was completed, in 1999, we turned
maintenance of Florist over to Ada Core Technologies, Inc. (gnat.com).
The latest and most complete versions are available from gnat.com

Huh????????????? I have no idea what this means or this program is!

This is the florist
system that I have at my shop. It's called Mercury Advantage.
Let me tell you...when it goes down, it can be disadvantage and
you'll spent countless hours listening to tech support music on
hold. Don't be fooled with the promises... it has lots of
glitches!
You may download
one of the free versions of Florist from our site at FSU:
Now why would I
want to do that...if I don't even know what this is!
